About BHP Billiton

BHP Billiton MetCoal is the world’s largest exporter of seaborne metallurgical coal and a global producer of export and domestic coal.

The BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) operates seven Bowen Basin mines – Goonyella Riverside, Broadmeadow, Daunia, Peak Downs, Saraji, Crinum and Blackwater – and the Hay Point Coal Terminal near Mackay. The mines are located in the coal-rich Bowen Basin of Central Queensland, which covers an area of 75,000 square kilometres of Permian Age marine and freshwater sediments. With the exception of the Crinum and Broadmeadow underground longwall operations, our mines are open-cut, using dragline and truck/shovel fleets for overburden removal. BHP Billiton owns 50 per cent of BMA.

How BHP Billiton uses BlueCielo solutions

BlueCielo partner Onset Design originally implemented BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise at a single BHP Billiton site, but the success of the project led to an expansion project to roll out the solution to multiple sites, including the Hay Point Terminal.

Onset Design has now announced that BlueCielo Meridian has been successfully rolled out to another 4 sites at BHP Billiton BMA MetCoal.

Onset Design is already working with BHP Billiton on expanding the solution to a further 2 BHP sites this year. An additional 4 sites are also planned for migration to BlueCielo Meridian in the future.
