Sneak preview: BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise 2012
In September 2011, BlueCielo launched a restricted release of BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise 2012. This fully tested release was made available to a few customers only. The official release is expected in February 2012 and will include more additional features than the restricted release. Here is a sneak preview of the many enhancements of BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise 2012.
Enhanced AutoCAD P&ID integration
BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise 2012 will provide enhanced integration for AutoCAD P&ID. Meridian has supported basic CAD link functionality in AutoCAD P&ID since version 2008. In the Meridian 2012 release, we will also support AutoCAD P&ID projects, allowing users to change a few P&ID drawings from the entire P&ID set, while having the entire P&ID database available during the change project.
Enhanced Autodesk Revit support
BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise 2012 extends support for managing Revit models in a Meridian Vault.
When work in a project is distributed over a hierarchy of Revit models (e.g. per project team, within each team per discipline, and then a model for each engineer), Meridian can track which Revit Work Sets are being worked on in the individual models, and show the synchronization of updates through the model hierarchy.
Server-based viewing
BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise 2012 provides a full implementation client/server viewing of Oracle’s AutoVue, supporting all features that are also supported by the AutoVue desktop viewer. Client/server viewing is supported for all Meridian clients - namely Power User Client, Office Client, Web Clients and Read Only Explorer Client - and can now be used as an alternative for the traditional desktop viewing. Client/server viewing currently offers advantages for the web clients, as it eliminates the need for software installations on the user’s desktop.
Support for document renditions
In the new BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise 2012 release, multiple file streams for each document can be stored and managed in the Vault as a single document. The primary file is the editable content of the document, while the rendition can be a PDF file or another non-editable format, this next to the thumbnail stream and the hybrid part of the file. The BlueCielo viewer is able to show either the current document’s original content (the default, as in previous versions) or the document’s rendition produced by BlueCielo Publisher. The Meridian environment can also be configured to show the rendition rather than the native format as a default. Like hybrid document parts, a document’s rendition inherits the same property values as its parent document.
More detailed information of all the new features of BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise 2012 will be provided at release of the software in February 2012.
